Egypt.. Video of a Person Demanding His Arrest and the Interior Ministry Responds and Reveals Details

- The Egyptian Ministry of Interior hastened to arrest a person who appeared in a circulated video, in which he called for security agencies to apprehend him and take legal action against him regarding several judicial rulings issued against him, claiming that individuals attempted to kill him due to disputes among them. The Egyptian Ministry of Interior stated in a statement via its official account on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter) on Friday evening: "As part of uncovering the circumstances of a video circulated on social media, in which one person is seen demanding security agencies to apprehend him and take legal action against him regarding several judicial rulings issued against him, claiming that several individuals attempted to kill him due to disputes among them over a piece of agricultural land in Beheira."

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior added that "upon investigation, it was found that no reports had been filed in this regard, and through conducting investigations, the person appearing in the video was identified and arrested (a jobless individual previously accused and sentenced to two years in prison for theft and misappropriation, residing in the jurisdiction of the Sadat Police Station in Menoufia)." The ministry clarified that "after confronting him, he admitted to having a partnership with another person for four years in one of the rented farms located in the jurisdiction of the Wadi al-Natrun Police Station in Beheira, without any contracts being drawn up between them. Later, his partner informed him that the owners of the farm had increased the rental value, and on July 21 of last month, he terminated the partnership with him and expelled him from the farm. He denied the allegations made in the video and justified his actions as an attempt to pressure his partner to reinstate him in the partnership at the farm and to gain sympathy from those who had judicial rulings against him to withdraw them. Legal measures were taken, and the Public Prosecution took over the investigation."

The ministry also published a blurred image of the person's face after his arrest and attached it to its post.
