Emirati statement in the Security Council on Gaza and the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

- The UAE called before the UN Security Council, on Friday, for the full implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza and the road map emerging from it, and condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. This came during the UAE’s statement delivered by Ambassador Mohammed Abu Shehab, its permanent representative to the Security Council, on Friday, in the Council’s quarterly open discussion on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, according to what was reported by the Emirati “WAM” news agency.

Muhammad Abu Shehab said in the statement that the positive efforts made by this Council a year ago through its adoption of Resolution 2303 require building on them through serious international efforts, in support of the full implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, and the road map emerging from it, including the National Committee for Gaza Administration assuming its responsibilities throughout the Gaza Strip, the deployment of the International Stabilization Force, the disarmament of Hamas, and Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza. He added: “The UAE has sincerely engaged to support these efforts, through its membership in both the Peace Council and the Gaza Executive Council.

As winter approaches, my country stresses the need for essential humanitarian supplies to enter Gaza through all crossings, and the UAE stresses the need to stop the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank and its settlement practices, which coincide with the escalation of settler violence and terrorism, in addition to the ongoing violations and incursions into East Jerusalem and the holy sites. The Emirati delegate went on to say: “We reiterate our categorical rejection of any practices or measures aimed at forcibly displacing the Palestinian people from their land.”

He added: “As for Syria, the UAE condemns the ongoing Israeli practices, including excavation and bulldozing operations inside Syrian territory, as a violation of international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, and we affirm our rejection of any infringement on Syria’s sovereignty, security, and stability, including in the occupied Syrian Arab Golan,” according to WAM. Ambassador Muhammad Abu Shehab stressed: “With regard to the security of the region, my country strongly condemns the repeated targeting by the Houthi group of civilians and civilian and economic objects in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirming our full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support in all the measures it takes to preserve its security and stability.”
