The step came after the parents asked the General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the head of the medical and surgical team of the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabiah, to suggest two names for their daughters, so they took his advice and chose “Noura and Sarah.”
This gesture coincided with the start of the medical and surgical team, this morning, the process of separating the 13-month-old Fijian twins, at the King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children in King Abdulaziz Medical City, affiliated with the Ministry of the National Guard in Riyadh, in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The two girls arrived in the Kingdom on July 21, 2026, where they underwent careful medical examinations and a comprehensive study of their condition, which showed their attachment in the abdominal and pelvic regions, and their involvement in the liver, intestines, colon, anus, urinary and reproductive systems, in addition to the pelvic bone.
Al-Rabiah explained that the medical team decided to perform the operation in 9 stages, with an estimated duration of about 15 hours, and with the participation of 34 consultants, specialists, and technical and nursing staff, from the specialties of anesthesia, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedics, and urology, in addition to supporting specialties.

Since its launch in 1990, the program has provided care for 159 twins from 28 countries spread over five continents, strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a global center in the field of separating conjoined twins, thanks to the support it receives from the Saudi leadership.
