German police are investigating an incident where a robot harassed a teenage girl

German police opened an investigation into a possible sexual assault incident, after a robot controlled by two teenagers came into contact with the body of a 16-year-old teenager and touched her buttocks. The incident occurred in the city of Cologne in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, western Germany, late Sunday night.

Police said that the robot's owner (16 years old) and his companion (19 years old) filmed the alleged assault and broadcast it live on social media. The girl was outside a fast food restaurant, between 11:45 p.m. and midnight local time, with her friends, who were between 17 and 18 years old.

The police reported that the robot, which was about 1.20 meters tall, approached the girl from behind and carried out these actions. Emergency teams were sent to the site, where they found the alleged attackers and discovered the robot inside the trunk of a car, according to police.

The authorities confiscated the robot and the suspects' mobile phones. Video footage circulating on the Internet shows a robot wearing a white jacket, a gold chain and sunglasses, approaching women on the streets and making gestures with explicit sexual connotations.

Authorities are investigating whether the robot's movements were pre-programmed or were deliberately controlled at the time of the incident.
