Ghalibaf: Iran's Conditions Are Non-Negotiable.. And the Strait of Hormuz Will Not Be Opened Before Achieving Them

- The Iranian Parliament Speaker and head of Tehran's negotiating delegation, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, said on Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened before Iran's conditions are met. The semi-official Iranian news agency "Tasnim" reported that Qalibaf delivered a speech before the official agenda of the parliamentary session began, stating: "We believe that the binary of war or negotiations is a false dichotomy; rather, we must fight and negotiate together.

We should fight rationally and with power, and negotiate at the right time with capability and rationality as well. This means deterring the enemy and delivering decisive blows with all our military strength at the right moment, then consolidating these gains with diplomatic tools when we achieve a tangible field victory and the enemy is in a position of weakness, in order to impose defeat on them and strengthen our power bases to reach a stage of full deterrence."

Qalibaf added: "Today, our positions in the diplomatic arena are completely clear, rational, and non-negotiable. Messages have been conveyed and our conditions have been clearly outlined to the other party through intermediaries, and the enemy is well aware that the path of deception and unilateral imposition has been closed; as long as these conditions are not met, the legitimate rights of the Iranian people are not recognized, and American commitments are not fulfilled, there will be no window to return to previous negotiation conditions, and the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened," according to "Tasnim" agency.

He continued: "We will prove that the path of the future will not be shaped by begging, but by rationality, courage, and struggle." The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, General Mohsen Rezaei, stated that Tehran has set seven basic conditions for the U.S. government as a prerequisite for starting any negotiations, including "ending the war on all fronts, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and ending the maritime blockade," as reported by the official Iranian news agency "IRNA."

He clarified that consultations with the Qatari and Pakistani mediators are still ongoing, and that Iran has informed them of its conditions for negotiations, while Qatar has conveyed these conditions to Washington, and Tehran is awaiting a response from U.S. President Donald Trump.
