Iraq.. American Congressman Posts Photos of Popular Mobilization Forces "Desecrating" the American Flag and Comments

American Congressman Joe Wilson published photos showing the Popular Mobilization Forces "desecrating" the American flag, demanding explanations from the Iraqi government. The photos were shared by the American congressman on his page on the X platform (formerly Twitter), stating in a comment: "The Popular Mobilization Forces - an official formation within the Iraqi government's security apparatus - are desecrating the American flag in a display of disrespect, and praising the murderous Iranian regime."

He continued: "If you need more evidence that Iraq has become an Iranian province... (the Iraqi government) Oh Zaydi, is this your opinion of America? It is worth noting that Iran has increasingly exploited the Popular Mobilization Forces to enhance its influence in Iraq, which is mostly composed of armed Shiite factions. The Popular Mobilization Forces were established in 2014 with the emergence of ISIS in Iraq, when the Iraqi government called on Iraqis to volunteer alongside state forces, thus incorporating new volunteers and existing militias into the ranks of the 'Popular Mobilization Forces.'

The Popular Mobilization Forces played a pivotal role in defeating ISIS and reclaiming Iraqi territories, before being officially integrated into state institutions in 2016. Some of the powerful militias within the Popular Mobilization Forces have close ties with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and are part of the "Axis of Resistance" led by Tehran in the region, alongside groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, and the Houthis in Yemen.

These groups, supported by Tehran, have launched repeated attacks against the United States and its allies in the Middle East.
