In a new Israeli violation, an Israeli army force penetrated, on Wednesday, into the Wadi al-Raqqad area in the western countryside of Daraa, southern Syria, and raided a house and detained a number of young men inside for about an hour.
A force consisting of five military vehicles entered the area through the Tal Abu al-Ghaithar gate, adjacent to the occupied Syrian Golan, and stormed the house of a resident. They also seized a nearby motorcycle and opened fire toward vacant lands, before leaving, according to what the Syrian news agency, SANA, reported.
This incursion came after a similar incident in the old village of Buriqa in the southern countryside of Quneitra, last Monday, when an Israeli force consisting of four military vehicles entered the village, searched a number of homes, arrested a young man, and took him into the Syrian Golan, coinciding with the flight of drones in the area.
Israeli incursions into areas of southern Syria have continued since the fall of the former Syrian regime in December 2024, in light of the continuing dispute over the Israeli military presence in the region and the future of security arrangements between Damascus and Tel Aviv.
It is noteworthy that Damascus accuses Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, through military incursions, raiding homes, arresting residents, leveling lands, and carrying out missile attacks, and demands the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Syrian territory.
While Syria confirms its adherence to the disengagement agreement, and declares its readiness to negotiate with the Israeli side to reach a security agreement, while the United States has been seeking for more than a year to bring the views of the two parties closer together and conclude an agreement regulating security arrangements, but these efforts have not yet led to an agreement.
