Joe Rogan escalates his criticism of Democrats and questions Trump's policies

American broadcaster Joe Rogan criticized the policies of the Democratic Party during the administration of former President Joe Biden, especially with regard to irregular immigration and anti-Covid-19 measures, while he expressed increasing reservations about the policies of President Donald Trump, opposing the American war with Iran, which he described as a “giant quagmire” that is difficult to get out of.

In a circulating clip from his show, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Rogan criticized border policies during the Biden administration, saying that allowing large numbers of migrants in, transporting them to cities and housing some of them in hotels, was “crazy.”

He also questioned the extent of actual supervision over the country's administration during Biden's term, accusing non-elected officials of exercising influence behind the scenes.

Rogan also criticized the Covid-19 measures, especially what he considered to be coercion in implementing some restrictions, including vaccination requirements and travel restrictions, considering that these policies contributed to shaping his negative position on the Biden administration and the Democratic Party.

From supporting Trump to objecting to the Iran war

Rogan had supported Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders in the 2020 elections, before his political positions changed against the backdrop of his differences with Democrats over immigration, pandemic measures, and other issues.

In the final days of the 2024 election campaign, he announced his support for Trump, noting that Elon Musk's positions strengthened his conviction to vote for the Republican president.

But Rogan explained, in a recent episode of his show with actor Michael Douglas, that his support for Trump was based on his belief that he represented the opposite of the policies he opposed, adding that some of the positions adopted by the president did not match his expectations.

The war with Iran was one of the most prominent files in which Rogan showed clear objection to Trump's policies, as he said that he saw no justification for the war from the perspective of American interests, warning of its expansion and the difficulty of ending it.

He added that the war seemed to be a "giant swamp," noting that many of the voters who supported Trump did so out of a desire to end foreign wars, not to enter into new conflicts.

He considered that the current developments contradict these expectations, and may arouse dissatisfaction with voters who gave the president their votes based on his pledges to avoid wars.

Criticisms of immigration enforcement methods

Rogan's reservations were not limited to foreign policy, but also extended to the methods of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Although he supported tightening border controls, he criticized the speed of hiring and training some of the agency's workers, as well as their arming and use of masks while carrying out operations in cities.

Rogan described these practices as raising concerns about the nature of the role played by the agency, considering that the presence of an armed force operating in this manner in the streets raises questions that cannot be ignored.

Rogan's positions reveal a distinction between his support for some conservative trends, especially on the immigration issue, and his support for all policies of the Republican administration.

He has not officially announced his withdrawal from support for Trump, but he has expressed objections to the war with Iran and to some immigration enforcement practices.

These positions are gaining political importance as the midterm congressional elections approach, given the size of Rogan’s audience and his influence on segments of young voters, some of whom’s positions against the political establishment and foreign wars have contributed to strengthening Trump’s chances during the 2024 elections.
