Macron begins his Gulf tour from Kuwait... exchanged honors and agreements to strengthen the partnership

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on Monday, awarded French President Emmanuel Macron the “Mubarak the Great Necklace,” in appreciation of him and the gratitude of the Kuwaiti people, and within the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries. According to Kuwait News Agency KUNA, Macron awarded the Emir of Kuwait the French Order of the Legion of Honour, with the rank of the Grand Cross, which is the highest rank in this French national order, in appreciation of his prominent role in expanding the horizons of cooperation and strengthening relations between Kuwait and France at various levels.

Macron arrived in Kuwait on Monday morning, at the start of a Gulf tour that also includes the Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information published a video clip documenting the moment Macron arrived in the country, where he was received by the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The two leaders held an official discussion session, during which they reviewed the progress of bilateral relations between the two countries and the two peoples, and discussed ways to support and enhance them and expand areas of economic, trade and investment cooperation, according to KUNA. The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen the partnership to serve their common interests, in addition to regional and international developments, especially developments in the situation in the region, and exchanged views on them.

During the visit, a number of agreements, declarations of intent and memorandums of understanding were signed between Kuwait and France, including defense and civil aviation cooperation, data and artificial intelligence, academic, scientific and technical cooperation, encouraging direct investment, in addition to strategic cooperation with Airbus in the aviation sector, enhancing cooperation in the health field, and supporting scientific and technical cooperation.
