The Saudi film “Migration” by director Shahad Amin won the grand prize in the feature film competition at the International Women’s Film Festival in Salé, Morocco, within its nineteenth session.
The film also won the Best Female Role Award, which went equally to Saudi actresses Khairiya Nazmi and Lamar Faden.
The film, which was filmed in eight Saudi cities, tells the story of a girl named Jana, who embarks on a journey across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia accompanied by her strict grandmother, Siti, in search of her sister Sarah, who disappeared without a trace while performing the Hajj.
“Migration” is co-produced by Faisal Beltoyor, Ayman Jamal, Muhammad Alawi, Muhammad Hefzy, Ali Al-Daraji, and Aboud Ayyash, while the project received support from the Saudi Film Authority, the Red Sea Fund, Al-Ula Film, NEOM, and Ithra.
