Netanyahu threatens Hebron: evacuation of homes and an unprecedented military operation since 1967

Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to escalate military operations in the West Bank, announcing his intention to evacuate residents from one of the Hebron neighborhoods from which he said the perpetrators of the operation launched, and to search homes, remove weapons, and destroy what he described as terrorist infrastructure.

During his visit to the site of the attack, Netanyahu said that Israel had received warnings weeks before of attempts to carry out attacks ahead of the elections, noting that Israeli army soldiers responded to the attack, and some of them were injured during the confrontation.

He added that his government will apply in the neighborhood the model of operations that it implemented in the refugee camps in the northern West Bank, while tightening military measures in the cities of Hebron and Halhul, and studying expanding the scope of these operations to include other cities, in addition to accelerating the demolition of homes that he described as illegal along the roads.

Netanyahu also announced that the Israeli army is preparing to carry out a large-scale operation in the West Bank, which he said will be unprecedented since the Six-Day War in 1967, stressing that the timing of its implementation will be determined later.

In a related context, Netanyahu confirmed the continuation of settlement expansion in the West Bank, pointing to plans to build and organize more than a hundred new settlements, in addition to more than a hundred settlement outposts, in parallel with the continuation of military operations, which he said target the infrastructure of the Palestinian factions.
