Palestinians mourn the remains of dozens of martyrs in Nuseirat camp

Gaza - Ofoq News - Palestinians mourned the bodies of martyrs who were recovered from under the rubble from Al-Awda Hospital to Al-Qassam Cemetery in the Nuseirat Camp in the central Gaza Strip, after they were recovered from under the rubble of the Engineers Building, where they remained buried under the rubble since the beginning of the war.

Mutlaq Abu Nabhan, one of the martyrs’ families, said in an interview with Lama’a that he lost his mother, two brothers, their wives, and their children, and that he had been waiting for this moment for a long time to bury them and have their graves that he could visit.

For his part, Brigadier General Rami Al-Aidi, Director of the Civil Defense Service in the Central Governorate, said that civil defense crews began working on the fifth of this month to remove the rubble from the Engineers Building, and search and recovery operations continued for 24 days, and resulted in the recovery of 43 bodies.

Al-Aidi added that the International Committee of the Red Cross has provided a mechanism to assist in digging operations and recovering bodies, stressing that civil defense crews continue to work with all their capacity despite limited capabilities.

He pointed out that the exhumation operations are carried out within a specific number of hours, calling for an increase in the hours allocated for work, in addition to providing the necessary equipment and tools to the civil defense apparatus, enabling it to continue search operations and recover bodies from under the rubble.

Search and rubble removal operations continue in various areas of the Gaza Strip, in light of the need for specialized equipment and greater capabilities to deal with the extent of the destruction and recover the bodies of those still under the rubble.
