Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced his country's readiness to resolve issues and disputes with the countries of the region through dialogue, understanding and regional mechanisms, welcoming any joint initiatives to enhance peace, security and economic development, in light of the tensions the region is witnessing.

During his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Tehran, Pezeshkian said that Iran does not see fundamental differences with the countries of the region, stressing its readiness to address the existing challenges through dialogue and cooperation between the countries of the region, according to what was reported by the Iranian news agency “IRNA.”

The Iranian President stressed that his country welcomes any initiative that brings together countries of the region in the fields of peace, security, economic development, cultural and scientific cooperation, stressing that achieving sustainable security requires building mutual trust, the participation of countries in the region, and respecting the legitimate interests of all parties.

Pezeshkian accused the United States of causing regional disputes through its interventions and policies, which he described as divisive, considering that the presence of American military bases in the region leads to increased tensions and conflicts instead of enhancing stability.

Bezeshkian pointed to the importance of strengthening cooperation between Islamic countries and expanding economic and trade relations, in addition to benefiting from the capabilities of multilateral organizations, most notably the BRICS group, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Eurasian Economic Union, to support regional cooperation and develop transportation and transit infrastructure.

For his part, Lavrov stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic consultations between Tehran and Moscow and taking advantage of the available capabilities to enhance peace and security, noting that the two sides discussed developing political, economic and trade cooperation, in addition to accelerating the implementation of existing agreements and understandings between the two countries.

The Russian Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening regional coordination and protecting common interests, within the framework of strategic relations between Moscow and Tehran.
