US President Donald Trump revealed on Saturday that he plans to form an “artificial intelligence force” and appoint a high-ranking official (czar) to supervise it, as the government faces increasing calls to impose regulatory controls on the rapid development of artificial intelligence. In a post on his platform, Truth Social, Trump reiterated his view that concerns about artificial intelligence are nothing more than a “hoax,” but he also acknowledged some of the risks posed by this technology, saying: “We will also work to monitor bad practices, and we can do that quite easily through the criminal and civil justice system we already have in place.”
Trump added: “For this purpose, I am forming the Artificial Intelligence Force, just as I did with the Space Force, which achieved tremendous success during my first term. To this end, in the near future, I will announce the name of the Artificial Intelligence Czar; only individuals with high IQs will be eligible to run for this position.”
Ofok News Network contacted the White House to obtain more details about the duties of this official (the Tsar), whether the president is considering a specific person for this role, and whether the “Artificial Intelligence Force” will be a branch of the military, similar to the “Space Force.” Trump's announcement comes as the White House and Congress have faced pressure to enact safeguards and regulatory measures on artificial intelligence in recent weeks.
The president has downplayed these concerns, alleging a "malicious conspiracy" aimed at undermining artificial intelligence. Trump said in his post on Saturday: “In no way will we hinder or inhibit the growth of this amazing industry.
“We are outpacing China and the rest of the world, and I intend to keep it that way.” Democrats, on the other hand, have been more vocal in their calls to slow the pace of AI development, with former President Barack Obama urging potential Democratic presidential candidates to put AI at the core of their 2028 election platforms.
