Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam confirmed on Monday that his government will deal firmly with any weapon outside the framework of the state, and that the government will not tolerate anyone who dares to tamper with Lebanon's security.

In a post on the X website, Salam confirmed his words, saying, “No leniency or connivance, but truth and accountability.”

He pointed out that "a truck was stopped in Dhahr al-Baydar heading from the Bekaa to the greater Beirut area containing hundreds of kilograms of explosive materials, including the highly explosive C-4."

Salam praised the security forces that stopped the suspicious truck, seized the explosive materials it was loaded with, and referred its drivers to the competent authorities for investigation.

He pointed out that he understands "the concern of the Lebanese over the spread of news of the arrest of this truck and the materials it was transporting... that were used in a number of notorious political assassinations in Lebanon's modern history."

Salam stressed that his government "will not hesitate to pursue the investigation and expand it, to determine the identity of all those involved in this criminal operation, and those behind them, reveal their plans and goals, and refer them all to the judiciary so that they receive the punishment they deserve."

He stressed that the Lebanese government "will deal with the required firmness with any weapon acquired, transferred, or used outside the framework of legality."

Details of the explosives shipment

Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath sources had revealed new details about the shipment of explosives that was seized at the Dahr al-Baydar checkpoint in Lebanon, confirming that it contained nails and metal balls, and that its destination was the southern suburb of Beirut, to be delivered to a person called “Zulfiqar.”

The sources explained that the two Hezbollah members arrested in connection with the case belong to the “Al-Layliki” and “Amhaz” families, and that they confessed to receiving orders to transport the shipment, which was delivered to them by a party leader named “Sajid” in Baalbek.

This information adds details about the route of the shipment and the people associated with its transportation, after the announcement, on Friday, of the seizure of 500 kilograms of highly explosive materials inside a car and the arrest of two people belonging to Hezbollah.

According to Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath sources, the process of transporting the shipment began from Baalbek, where the leader, Sajid, delivered it, and it was to be transported to the southern suburb and delivered to Zulfiqar.

The sources confirmed that the detainees admitted that the transfer of explosives was based on orders they received, without revealing the full names of the people concerned or specifying the party that issued those orders.

It also reported that the confiscated explosives contained nails and metal balls, but it did not clarify the final purpose of the shipment or the nature of the use for which it was intended.

A Lebanese security source revealed, on Friday, that the Internal Security Forces stopped a Dodge Caravan at the Dahr al-Baidar checkpoint, and seized inside it 250 kilograms of TNT and 250 kilograms of C4 (C-4), which are used in bombing and booby-trapping operations.

The source indicated that two people belonging to Hezbollah were arrested, and the detainees and seized items were handed over to the military police in the Lebanese army to expand the investigation, according to what was reported by the Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath correspondent.
