The Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Fahd National Library, Prince Faisal bin Salman, chaired the fifth meeting of the Library’s Board of Trustees for the year 2026, which was held today at the library’s headquarters in Riyadh.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prince Faisal bin Salman affirmed the generous support and care that the King Fahd National Library enjoys from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which enhances the library’s activities and cultural and knowledge projects, supports its role in serving scientific research in various fields, enables it to fulfill its national and societal mission, and continues to enhance the Kingdom’s cultural presence.

During the meeting, the Council reviewed a number of issues related to the library’s work, as it approved the updated financial regulations for the King Fahad National Library, and approved the proposed budget for the years 2027 AD and 2028 AD in accordance with the followed regulatory procedures.

Regarding the preservation of national memory, the Council reviewed the initiative to correct the content of the National Archive of Historical Images in the library, which aims to preserve and document historical photographic memory as one of the basic components of national identity, in accordance with the highest international standards and practices in archiving and preserving historical images.

The initiative includes conducting a comprehensive and accurate review of the textual content, data and information associated with historical images, verifying their authenticity and sources, correcting what is necessary, and re-documenting each image according to a scientific methodology that guarantees the accuracy and completeness of the data, in a way that enhances the reliability of the archive and turns its contents into historical sources that can be relied upon in research, scientific studies and specialized references.

The members reviewed the internal and external memorandums of understanding and cooperation related to the King Fahad National Library for the year 2026 AD.

The meeting concluded by discussing a number of reports related to the progress of work, and making the necessary recommendations regarding them, in a way that supports developing the library’s performance and achieving its cultural and cognitive goals. (SPA)
