Saudi Arabia announces the downing of 4 drones, including one over Riyadh

Riyadh - Ofoq News - Saudi Arabia announced today, Saturday, the interception and downing of four drones, including one over the capital, Riyadh, in light of the Kingdom’s exposure to repeated attacks from the Houthi group in Yemen.

Riyadh leads a military coalition that supports the internationally recognized Yemeni government in its war with the Iran-backed Houthi group.

Since the renewed fighting last July, after a pause that lasted for years, the Kingdom has faced continuous attacks with missiles and drones targeting its oil facilities, oil tankers, and airports.

Coalition spokesman, Turki Al-Maliki, said in a post on the “X” platform that the forces intercepted and destroyed four drones during the past hours in the regions of Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and the south of the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia accused Iran of encouraging the recent escalation of the Houthis, while Tehran denies these accusations.
