Next Wednesday, the Ministry of Culture will launch the “Rubi-Tone” exhibition, which will be held at the Fnaa Al-Awal Center until next November 7. It presents a sensory artistic experience that explores the intersection between music and visual art, and contemplates how sound is transformed into visual works.
The “Rubi Tone” exhibition is an artistic project created by the artist Naseer Shamma, and his experiment is based on employing wood sawdust and its remains resulting from the manufacture of the oud instrument in plastic works that transfer the material from its traditional function to visual formations that evoke sound, maqam and rhythm. The name of the exhibition comes from the term "quarter tone", as one of the elements of Arabic music.
The exhibition is accompanied by a diverse cultural and artistic program, which includes dialogue sessions with the participation of artists and researchers that address the relationship of sound to place, memory and identity, in addition to an interactive experience that enriches the visitor’s journey and expands the dimensions of the artistic experience of the exhibition.
The exhibition receives visitors from ten in the morning until ten in the evening, all days of the week, while it opens its doors on Fridays from five in the evening until ten in the evening. Access is available to general visitors through prior registration through the “WeBook” platform, according to the site’s capacity.
The organization of the “Quarter Toon” exhibition comes within the Ministry of Culture’s efforts to achieve the goals of the National Strategy for Culture, under the umbrella of Saudi Vision 2030, by providing innovative cultural experiences to the public, and providing creative platforms in which the arts meet, allowing for an effective cultural dialogue between the artist and society.
