The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council said that Gulf facilities have been targeted by about 7,000 ballistic missiles since last February.

He added, during the joint strategic dialogue meeting between the foreign ministers of the Gulf states and Russia in Bahrain, that the Houthi attacks targeted civilian facilities and energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, while Iran’s obstruction of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz represents a violation of international law.

In parallel, he affirmed that the GCC countries stand by Saudi Arabia in all the measures it takes to protect its security.

The Secretary-General expressed the Council countries' aspiration for a Russian role that would contribute to pushing Iran to adhere to Security Council resolutions.

In international affairs, he stressed the importance of giving priority to the language of dialogue in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and on the other hand, he rejected any Israeli attempts to displace Palestinians from Jerusalem and Gaza.

He also stressed the aspiration of the GCC countries to develop joint Gulf-Russian action, in light of the delicate circumstances the region is going through.
