Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday condemned the attack launched by the Houthi militia on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, stressing that attacks targeting civilians and vital infrastructure are completely unacceptable and constitute a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
Sharif said in a blog post on his account in “X”: “I strongly condemn the heinous attack launched by the Houthi militia on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and we pray to God for a speedy and complete recovery for the injured.”
He added: "Attacks targeting civilians and vital infrastructure are completely unacceptable and constitute a serious threat to regional peace and stability. These violent acts, which represent a flagrant violation of international law, must stop immediately."
He said, "Pakistan stands steadfastly and in solid solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership and its brotherly people. Based on the Joint Defense Agreement of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and the solid ties of brotherhood that unite our two countries, we reaffirm our firm commitment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority announced that the “brutal attack” that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, on Saturday afternoon, caused the death of (12) people, including citizens and residents, and the injury of 309 others, according to the authority’s statement.
Following the renewed "brutal Houthi attacks" against civilian facilities, specifically King Khalid International Airport, the official spokesman for the coalition forces, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, confirmed that "the cowardly terrorist attack carried out by the Houthi militia on Saturday, on one of the passenger lounges at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and the resulting deaths and injuries among civilian passengers and airport workers amounts to a full-fledged war crime according to international humanitarian law and its customary rules."
Al-Maliki considered the cowardly terrorist attack on King Khalid International Airport “a heinous act that contradicts principles, values and morals,” stressing that the leadership of the joint forces of the coalition will respond to this terrorist attack firmly and in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.
