“Suspected overdose.” Police are investigating the death of Presley Gerber, Cindy Crawford’s son

- Detectives from the Santa Monica Police Department are investigating the death of Cindy Crawford's son, model Presley Gerber, as a case of "suspected overdose," according to a law enforcement media release. A family representative had previously confirmed to Ofoq News Network that Gerber died on Sunday, at the age of 27.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office stated that Gerber died while in a rehabilitation center, without disclosing the cause of death. Santa Monica Police responded to a report from a location on Berkeley Street at 9:35 a.m. local time Sunday that someone may have overdosed.

That person later turned out to be Gerber, according to the news release. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found an adult male deceased.

The statement added that there are currently no indications indicating the presence of criminal suspicion. "The family requests that their privacy be respected during this extremely difficult and painful time," Crawford's media spokesperson told Ofoq News Network.

Presley was born in California in 1999, one of two children Crawford had with businessman Randy Gerber. Like his sister Kaya, he entered the modeling industry at an early age, making his first runway appearance for the Italian brand Moschino, at just 16 years old.

He continued his career by participating in fashion shows for major brands, and appearing in famous magazines. He also worked as an investor and entrepreneur, according to the biography published on the website of the DNA Model Management agency that hired him in 2019.

Gerber has spoken openly in recent years about his struggles with mental health and drug abuse. During an appearance on the Studio 22 podcast in 2023, he discussed the importance of using his platforms to raise awareness of mental health issues, describing the issue as “a very big part of his life.”

Gerber ran his own initiative, Mental Health Mondays, and worked with NGOs, including Los Angeles homeless charity A Sense of Home, according to DNA Model Management. In December 2025, Gerber posted a video on Instagram in which he detailed his use of prescription medications, including antidepressants and Xanax to treat panic attacks.

He said in that video, which was later deleted: “Unfortunately, I have recently suffered great loss in multiple forms. This is not an excuse, but it is the reason behind my current situation.”

Commenting on the video at the time, Crawford wrote: “Presley... Recently, the 60-year-old supermodel posted a Facebook post on her son’s 27th birthday last July, saying: ‘I am so proud of the man you have become, but I will always see you as my baby boy!’”

Earlier this month, Kaya spoke about her brother's struggles with addiction in the feature story for the September issue of American Vogue. “When something like this happens in a family, it affects everyone equally and puts them on the same level. I think that's also why I started describing myself as the easy-going person, the one who didn't cause trouble, and I never wanted to ask for help," she said.

She continued, praising his role within the family: “My parents were very privacy-conscious throughout most of our lives and did not share any details, and now we have this real teacher, my brother, who says: I will be a human being in every sense of the word in front of everyone.”
