A baby was killed and another child was injured on Friday due to shelling by the Houthi terrorist militia in the Al-Dhabab area, west of Taiz Governorate, southwestern Yemen.
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms reported that its field team monitored the casualties resulting from the shelling, noting that the baby, Mohammed Mahiib Saeed Abdu Qasim, arrived at Al-Thawra General Hospital dead after sustaining shrapnel wounds to the head.
It added that the child, Ahmed Aref Abdu Qasim, was injured by shrapnel scattered across his body due to the shelling that targeted the area.
The network condemned the Houthi shelling that claimed the life of the baby, who was only two weeks old, and called for the protection of civilians and an end to attacks targeting residential areas.
It also called for an investigation into the incident and for holding those responsible accountable, emphasizing the necessity of protecting civilians from the repercussions of the ongoing military escalation in the governorate.
