The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum Clarifies Fuel Prices and Addresses the Reality of Gas Cylinder Shortages

- The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources renewed its denial on Sunday regarding any intention to raise fuel prices, stating that the "new prices" circulating on social media are "incorrect" and not based on any official decision. The ministry emphasized, in a statement on Sunday, that the current prices will remain unchanged, clarifying that the committee formed to monitor the automatic pricing mechanism for petroleum products has not yet convened, and no decision or recommendation regarding fuel price adjustments has been issued.

The ministry explained that the lack of a committee meeting refutes the validity of what is being circulated on social media, affirming that any updates or decisions related to fuel prices will be officially announced by the ministry and the relevant authorities. The ministry referred to a previous statement issued on September 24, 2026, in which it denied the validity of claims regarding changes in fuel prices, reiterating its call not to be swayed by unverified information circulating on social media platforms.

In a related context, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources categorically denied the rumors regarding a shortage of gas cylinders in some governorates, confirming that the gas supply system is operating normally and regularly. The ministry stated that refineries are producing and supplying gas normally, and the transportation and filling processes at filling plants are proceeding as scheduled.

The ministry confirmed that the stocks of bulk gas allocated for filling gas cylinders are available within the filling plants, which are operating at full capacity according to market needs, noting that there are no indicators of a shortage in the available quantities. It explained that "the gas cylinder distribution system operates regularly in various governorates, and the necessary quantities are provided to meet citizens' needs, with daily monitoring of the supply, production, and distribution situation to ensure the regular delivery of cylinders to different areas."
