Tulkarm - Afaq News - The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs condemned the Israeli occupation authorities' declaration of "Bani Yaqub Shrine" in the Arta suburb south of Tulkarm, which is located on endowment land, as an archaeological site under the jurisdiction of the Israeli Antiquities Authority.
The ministry confirmed in a press statement today, Sunday, that this action comes as part of the occupation's policy aimed at seizing endowment lands to serve colonial and expansionist plans.
The ministry called on international and human rights organizations to intervene urgently to stop these violations and to protect endowment lands and properties from seizure.
The occupation forces had posted notices today in several areas south and east of Tulkarm city, announcing the seizure of lands and designating them as archaeological sites, under the pretext of the existence of archaeological sites within them.
Local sources reported that the occupation forces stormed the area of the "Bani Yaqub Shrine" park in the Arta suburb and posted notices announcing the seizure of the site and classifying it as an archaeological area.
