The Israeli prosecution accuses a Jerusalemite student of planning operations with “explosive devices and toxic materials”

Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Today, Thursday, the Israeli Public Prosecution filed an indictment against student Muhammad Shalabi (22 years old), from Beit Hanina in Jerusalem, accusing him of planning to carry out operations using explosive devices and toxic materials, while demanding that his detention be extended until the end of judicial procedures.

According to a statement by the Israeli Public Prosecution, the indictment was referred to the District Court in Jerusalem, and included charges against Shalabi of “preparing a terrorist act with the aim of killing” and “receiving training for terrorist purposes,” according to what the prosecution reported.

The indictment, according to the Israeli Public Prosecution, states that Shalabi, a third-year pharmacy student who also works as an assistant to a pharmacist, went through what it described as “a process of ideological extremism,” which the prosecution linked, among other things, to the events of October 7 and the war on Gaza.

The prosecution claimed that he was regularly watching content related to the Hamas and ISIS movements, and that he decided, according to its account, to use the knowledge he gained during his studies and his access to chemical materials in planning to carry out attacks.

The indictment alleged that in early 2025, due to his anger over traffic violations that he said were being recorded against worshipers near a mosque in the Beit Hanina neighborhood, he began planning to target Israeli law enforcement forces that were arriving at the place.

According to the prosecution, Shalabi monitored the targeted parties for about two months, and loaded materials related to preparing packages, explosive materials, and poisons, before moving, according to its account, to preparatory steps that included purchasing chemicals and equipment, storing them in his home, and conducting a chemical experiment.

The prosecution also claimed that he later deleted files and search history from his phone, and demanded that he be kept in detention until the end of the judicial procedures, without its statement including a response from Shalabi or his lawyer to the accusations.
