The Ministry of Economy told Ofoq News: Preventing the entry of West Bank products into Gaza is an economic crime

Ramallah - Ofoq News - The Ministry of National Economy confirmed that the Israeli occupation authorities’ continued prevention of the entry of West Bank products into the Gaza Strip constitutes an economic crime aimed at undermining the components of the Palestinian economy and exacerbating the economic siege imposed on our people, especially in the Gaza Strip.

The Ministry said in a special comment to Ofoq News about preventing the entry of Palestinian products into the Gaza Strip, that the Palestinian economy operates under exceptional circumstances as a result of the policies and procedures of the occupation, severe restrictions on movement, disruption of supply chains, and withholding of clearing funds, in addition to the widespread destruction in the Gaza Strip, and the exclusion of West Bank companies from efforts to bring in humanitarian aid and contribute to reconstruction.

She added that she is intensifying her movements and contacts with international partners to pressure the occupation government to remove restrictions and arbitrary measures, facilitate the movement of trade, and enable West Bank companies to bring basic goods into the Gaza Strip, in a way that contributes to meeting the needs of citizens, enhancing economic integration between the two parts of the country, and supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian private sector.

The Ministry explained that this file constituted one of the main axes raised during the last meeting of the donor group for private sector work, within the framework of efforts aimed at mobilizing international support and intensifying pressure on the occupation government to lift the economic blockade imposed on the Palestinian people, and enable Palestinian companies to enter their products into the Gaza Strip and contribute to meeting the needs of citizens and recovery and reconstruction efforts.
