Gaza - Ofoq News - The Palestinian NGO Network denounced, in the strongest terms, the US administration’s decision to impose a series of punitive measures against the International Criminal Court, which coincided with the announcement of the courageous human rights defender, Navi Pillay, winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
She said in a statement that these measures aim to undermine international justice and provide an opportunity for war criminals to prevent their prosecution before international justice and escape punishment.
The International Criminal Court had issued arrest warrants against both the Prime Minister of the occupying state, Netanyahu, and the former Minister of War in his government, Gallant, on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the crime of starvation.
She added: “It is clear from the American measures that they aim to provide a platform for Israeli war criminals to protect them and escape punishment, and it is a pre-emptive measure against the possibility of prosecuting American politicians for possible war crimes.”
She stressed that the US administration’s measures aim to replace the principle of the rule of law with the law of the jungle
She added: "While the network appreciates the position of the international community, most of which denounced the actions of the American administration towards the court, it calls on it to work to protect and preserve the court and activate its role in prosecuting Israeli war criminals who committed acts amounting to genocide in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the crime of settlement and racial discrimination in the West Bank and other crimes against humanity."
She saw that adhering to the International Criminal Court and working to thwart the American sanctions against it constitutes an opportunity for our people and all the free people of the world to raise the banner of freedom and dignity in the face of barbarism and barbarism, in justice to the voice of the victims among our people and in other parts of the world.
