“The bloodiest during the war.” The death toll from the Russian bombing of a Ukrainian relief center has increased

- The death toll from the Russian bombing of a relief center in southeastern Ukraine on Monday has risen to 53, local authorities said on Friday, an attack that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described as “one of the bloodiest attacks in this war.” The fate of many other people remains unknown after the attack on a school building in Kumichovakha, Zaporizhya region. The local governor, Mykhailo Semykin, stated that the building was being used as a shelter and humanitarian aid distribution centre.

Search and rescue operations are continuing at the site amid "a constant threat of more Russian strikes," the Ukrainian Emergency Service said via the Telegram app. These latest Russian attacks come at a time when the Trump administration is seeking to push again towards negotiations.

US envoy Steve Witkoff recently held a meeting with Zelensky in Norway, before flying to St. Petersburg to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
