U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that Iran has effectively abandoned any plans to acquire nuclear weapons and he will make a decision regarding this matter.

Trump clarified in press statements that the economic blockade on Iran has yielded results beyond expectations.

He stated that U.S. military operations have undermined Tehran's nuclear capabilities. He also criticized the Democrats, saying they have done nothing to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear bomb.

Trump reiterated his statements that Washington will never allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. He emphasized that this matter is non-negotiable in any settlement.

Trump indicated that the war with Iran will end soon, either through an agreement or through military action.

Trump described the situation in Iran as bad, pointing to a significant decline in its military and economic capabilities.

Axios reported on Saturday that senior members of President Donald Trump's administration held a secret meeting at the presidential retreat at Camp David on Friday to discuss the next steps regarding the war with Iran and the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

The site reported that Vice President J.D. Vance chaired the meeting.

The report noted that the Trump administration did not announce this unusual meeting at all.

The last time a similar meeting was held was in June 2025, just days before Israel launched a war against Iran.

Among the other participants according to the report were: Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, White House envoy Steve Witkoff, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kaine.
