- The United Arab Emirates confirmed in a statement from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday that the judicial authorities in the country are responsible for investigating the incident involving Fly Dubai flight number (FZ1073), which was headed from Dubai International Airport to Tel Aviv, considering that the aircraft is registered in the country and carries its flag. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in its announcement that it is following up on the incident involving Fly Dubai flight number (FZ1073), which was diverted and landed safely at Tabuk Airport in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified in a statement that "His Excellency Dr. Hamad Al-Shamsi, the Attorney General of the Federation, has ordered the formation of a team of specialized public prosecution members to investigate the incident, to understand its circumstances and causes," in light of what Fly Dubai announced regarding "a disturbance in the cockpit during the flight, which required the intervention of crew members on board to secure it," according to the official Emirates News Agency "WAM" on Thursday. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned in its statement that "the judicial authorities in the United Arab Emirates are responsible for investigating the incident in accordance with the applicable legislation, considering that the aircraft is registered in the country and carries its flag, which entails the application of UAE law on crimes committed on board, even if they occur outside the territory of the state," according to "WAM."
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that "the investigations include verifying various circumstances of the incident and its motives, and whether there is any connection to terrorist activity or prior planning or direction for it," according to "WAM." The United Arab Emirates also expressed its "gratitude and appreciation to the Saudi authorities, valuing their cooperation and handling of the incident."
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of relying on information and data issued by official sources, and avoiding the circulation of speculations or unreliable information until the investigations are completed and their results announced. Earlier on Thursday, the UAE Attorney General, Hamad Saif Al-Shamsi, ordered the formation of an investigation team from specialized public prosecution members to investigate the incident involving Fly Dubai flight that was headed to Tel Aviv from Dubai International Airport and made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, and to verify its connection to "terrorist activity or purpose," according to "WAM" on Thursday.
The team began its work in coordination with the General Civil Aviation Authority and the relevant authorities in the UAE, according to "WAM". The Attorney General in the UAE directed to "take the necessary measures to gather information and evidence, to understand the reality of the incident, its circumstances, and motives, and to verify whether it is related to any terrorist activity or purpose, or if there was any prior planning or direction for it," according to WAM.
