The United Nations World Food Program reported that at least 600,000 people in the city of Taiz, the third largest city in Yemen, face the risk of malnutrition and hunger due to combat operations, according to the American Associated Press, citing program data.
According to the World Food Programme, humanitarian organizations have lost the ability to provide food aid to the local population who depend on them, in light of the siege imposed by the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) on the city of Taiz, and the Associated Press indicated that the main roads leading to the city are currently closed. On October 12, the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) announced its control over a number of areas in Taiz Governorate, and expelled government forces from them.
On October 14, the forces affiliated with the internationally recognized Yemeni government announced the neutralization of about 1,250 militants and the destruction of more than 460 vehicles belonging to the enemy forces, as part of the “Yemen Dawn” operation.
On October 5, the head of the Presidential Command Council in Yemen, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, announced the launch of a large-scale military operation entitled “Yemen’s Dawn,” with the aim of liberating the capital from the Houthis, with the support of the Saudi-led coalition.
