On Monday, US Vice President J.D. Vance, unlike Donald Trump, refused to express his support for Benjamin Netanyahu in the legislative elections scheduled for October 27 in Israel.
He said in response to an American journalist who urged him to announce his position, “I am not against supporting it, and I am not for supporting it, and I do not interfere in the Israeli elections.”
He added, "I support American candidates, and I focus on the midterm elections" scheduled for November 3 in the United States.
On Sunday, the US President announced his “full and complete support” for Benjamin Netanyahu in the Israeli legislative elections scheduled for October 27, prompting the outgoing Prime Minister to thank him for this “tremendous” support ahead of a vote expected to witness intense competition.
The Vice President's reservation contrasts with his positions during other elections outside the United States, in which J.D. Vance did not hesitate to interfere.
He strongly supported Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban ahead of the legislative elections held in April that removed him from power.
In Germany, last year he demonstrated his rapprochement with the Alternative for Germany party by meeting with its leader, Alice Weidel, and criticizing the isolation policy pursued by the traditional parties towards the far-right party.
