Yemen.. Rashad Al-Alimi comments on Sisi’s statement about “defending Saudi Arabia”

On Sunday, Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, praised the position of Egypt and its President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi after his statements about supporting and defending Saudi Arabia. Al-Elimi said in a blog post on his official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter: “I salute the brave Egyptian position, led by my brother, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and the firm solidarity it embodies with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in confronting common threats, and protecting the interests of our peoples and their national security.” Rashad Al-Alimi added in a second blog post, “Egypt and the Kingdom’s standing by the Yemeni people, in their battle to restore state institutions, is a pillar of security and stability in the region, because Cairo and Riyadh are the wings of Arab national security, and with their unity, our nation increases in strength, resilience, and ability to make the desired peace.” On Sunday morning, Sisi chaired a meeting of the National Defense Council, to discuss “full standing” with Saudi Arabia, and providing all necessary and possible forms of support to the Kingdom, in order to defend its security and stability.

Al-Sisi confirmed, on Saturday, that “Egypt is ready to implement any measure requested by Saudi Arabia to defend its security and sovereignty,” adding: “We stand strongly to protect and defend the lands of our brothers in the Gulf.” The Egyptian President added: “We must acknowledge the kindness done by the brothers in the Gulf, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, and Kuwait, and thank them for their support for Egypt after 2013,” pointing out that “the support of the brothers in the Gulf for Egypt played a vital role in restoring the capabilities of the Egyptian state.” The Houthis sent a letter to the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, Hisham Badawi, from the Speaker of the House of Representatives (affiliated with the Houthis), after Sisi called the Egyptian Parliament to convene to authorize him to take measures related to the defense of Saudi Arabia.

The letter said: “We are following with great concern any trends that might lead Egypt to engage in military movements that serve the policies of the Saudi regime in Yemen, and we would like to place before you the following facts clearly and clearly, which is that the Saudi regime is the one that launched the aggression and siege on Yemen for more than 12 years.”, according to what was reported by the Houthi-run version of the Saba News Agency. The letter also indicated that "Egypt's sliding down this path will pose a serious threat to its national security and internal stability before others."
