The head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, welcomed Egypt's position in support of Saudi Arabia, stressing that Cairo and Riyadh's standing by the Yemeni people in their battle to restore state institutions represents a pillar of security and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni House of Representatives appreciated the Egyptian position, following President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s announcement of Cairo’s readiness to take what is necessary to defend the Kingdom if its leadership requests it.
Al-Alimi said, in a post on his official account on the “X” platform, today, Sunday, that Cairo and Riyadh represent the two wings of Arab national security, adding that the unity of position between them enhances the nation’s strength and its ability to make the desired peace.
For its part, the Yemeni House of Representatives praised the Egyptian position, considering that coordination between Cairo and Riyadh represents strategic importance to support the Yemeni people and support state institutions, in addition to protecting the security of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states and enhancing regional stability. He stressed in a statement the depth of historical relations between Egypt and Yemen, pointing to the common ties between the two countries and the importance of continuing Arab support for Yemen in the face of the challenges that threaten its security and stability.
The Speaker of the Yemeni House of Representatives, Sheikh Sultan Saeed Al-Barakani, also stressed that what Yemen is being exposed to today from the coup by the terrorist Houthi militias represents a direct targeting of the gains of the revolution, the republic, and the will of the Yemeni people. He explained that fulfilling those sacrifices requires continued Arab support for Yemen in restoring its state and its legitimate institutions, preserving its republican system, and achieving security and stability for its people, according to the Yemeni news agency “Saba.”
In addition, he stressed that the Egyptian position in support of the security of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, and its keenness to protect the security of the Red Sea and international navigation, reflects a deep awareness of the magnitude of the risks facing the region, and confirms Egypt’s position and its pivotal role in maintaining Arab national security. He pointed out that such historical positions will remain engraved with letters of light in the memory of the Arab peoples. The Speaker of the House of Representatives said: “Experiences have proven that Egypt and Saudi Arabia represent a safety valve for the Arab nation, and that coordinating their positions and integrating their roles, in cooperation with the Gulf states, Yemen and other Arab countries, constitutes an essential foundation for confronting threats and maintaining the stability of the region.”
The Yemeni reactions came after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced his country's readiness to take the necessary measures to defend Saudi Arabia if its leadership requested it, while affirming that Cairo does not seek to attack anyone, but will not accept compromising the Kingdom's security and stability.
It also came after the Egyptian National Defense Council decided to provide all necessary and possible forms of support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its security and stability, and to preserve its capabilities, the integrity of its lands, and Islamic holy sites.
Yesterday, Saturday, the Egyptian President called on the House of Representatives to hold an emergency session to authorize any intervention requested by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, saying that Egypt will implement any measure to protect and defend Saudi Arabia.
He also stressed that Egypt does not seek war or attack any party, but rather moves within the framework of defense, stressing Cairo's refusal to undermine Saudi Arabia's security and stability, and indicating that any move in this direction requires the approval of the Egyptian Parliament.
