In the past 24 hours, the Yemeni government forces and popular resistance in Taiz have thwarted a series of attacks and infiltration attempts launched by the Houthi militia on several fronts in the governorate, in a wide field escalation that extended from Maqbana and Jabal Habashi in the west to Al-Aqroud and Sam'a in the south, and the fronts surrounding the city of Taiz.

The Taiz Axis leadership stated that more than 100 members of the Houthi militia were killed and dozens were injured during the confrontations, which were accompanied by airstrikes targeting the group's positions and gatherings, noting the destruction and damage of several military vehicles and the burning of an arms depot.

According to a military source for the Armed Forces Media Center, the army and resistance forces managed to break a series of Houthi attacks that began on Wednesday evening, resulting in dozens of casualties among the militia, including field leaders.

The warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on Houthi positions and gatherings in southeastern Taiz, the Hamir front in the Maqbana district in the west of the governorate, and Bani Omar in the south of the governorate, amid ongoing confrontations in several axes.

The fronts of fighting in Taiz are distributed between the western axis, which includes Maqbana, Jabal Habashi, and Al-Kadha, and the southern and southeastern axis, which includes Al-Aqroud and Sam'a, in addition to the fronts surrounding the city of Taiz, while the areas of Al-Shamayatin, Al-Maafir, and the roads leading outside the governorate constitute areas of military and logistical importance.

The escalation recently extended to the road linking Taiz and Aden, as field sources reported that elements of the Houthi militia infiltrated on Wednesday night into an area in the Al-Maqatirah district of Lahij governorate, and planted explosives in one of the rainwater drainage channels on the Heijah Al-Abd road, before detonating it remotely early Thursday, which led to damage to the road and the halt of vehicle movement.

The sources added that the explosion disrupted traffic on the vital road, which witnesses heavy daily movement of travelers, trucks, and vehicles between Taiz and Aden, noting that the infiltration operation was preceded by artillery shelling and gunfire from Houthi positions in the Al-Ahkoum front, with several bullets reaching the homes of citizens.

The Heijah Al-Abd road is one of the most important routes relied upon by the residents of Taiz to travel to Aden and the southern governorates, representing a main passage for the movement of travelers, goods, and supplies, making any disruption in it an additional burden on the residents and transport between the two governorates.

The Houthi militia had carried out infiltration attempts in recent days through the Najd Al-Bard, Al-Ashboot, and Souq Al-Rubou' axes in the Al-Maqatirah district, with the forces of the Tor Al-Baha axis stating that they targeted the road to tighten the siege on Taiz, before they confronted them and forced them to retreat to their positions in the Al-Ahkoum mountains.

In the Sam' district, the popular resistance stated that the Houthis have sent military reinforcements to the Al-Hiliya area in the northeastern part of the district and stormed villages with vehicles, amid resistance and public rejection of them, calling on the people of the district to raise their readiness and support the government forces.

For his part, Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan confirmed the readiness and cohesion of the internal front, calling for the unification of efforts and adherence to the decisions of the National Defense Council, while the sheikhs and notables of the governorate announced their readiness to continue supporting the fronts and reinforcing the stationed forces.
