Prime Minister Announces Approval of 66 Urgent Interventions to Support Targeted Areas to Be Implemented Within Days

Ramallah - Afaq News - Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa announced the start of implementing 66 government interventions to support the targeted areas, which includes providing financial support in response to the urgent and necessary demands presented by local councils and citizens during ministerial tours that included various targeted areas to assess their needs and strengthen their resilience. He emphasized the need to intensify inspection visits in the coming weeks, in light of the field developments and the escalating pace of attacks on Palestinian villages and towns.

During his speech at the opening of the weekly Cabinet session today, Tuesday, the Prime Minister praised the steadfastness of our people in the face of the occupation army's assaults and the settlers' gangs, while also commending the solidarity of various community components, and the support provided by international partner institutions, foreign solidarity groups, civil society, and the private sector in assisting citizens and enhancing their ability to confront this difficult phase.

Mustafa referred, according to the statement issued by the Government Communication Center, to what the government has provided through the Ministry of Local Government, the Municipalities Fund, and various partner institutions over the past two years, especially the implementation of more than 1,661 projects and interventions at an estimated cost of about 1.3 billion shekels, which included infrastructure projects and emergency response work that covered various municipalities and village councils.

In another context, as the war on the Gaza Strip approaches its fourth year, the Cabinet warned of the continued catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the sector, amid ongoing bombardment, starvation, and siege, accompanied by harsh living conditions, and the ongoing crisis of malnutrition, especially among children and the elderly.

In this context, the Cabinet stressed the need to ensure the free delivery of humanitarian aid, including tents and tarpaulins, to displaced and affected families in the Gaza Strip, and to prevent their sale or trafficking, expressing its rejection of the recurrence of such incidents, along with other documented incidents aimed at preventing or obstructing government employees from performing their role in serving our people in the sector.

The Cabinet welcomed the supportive positions for our people expressed by the majority of countries at the United Nations General Assembly, which focused on the need to put an end to the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, calling for the unification of these positions and translating them into effective and urgent international actions that ensure the entry of humanitarian aid, end the blockade and starvation, and provide protection for civilians.

In addition, the Cabinet discussed in its first reading the draft law on general amnesty, which, upon its issuance, will be the first general amnesty law in Palestine since the establishment of the Palestinian National Authority.

The law specifies the crimes covered by it, the conditions for its application, and its exceptions. It is expected to terminate the criminal cases pending before the courts regarding the crimes it covers and to reduce the number of pending criminal cases, without affecting the right of the victims to claim compensation or enforce the civil judgments issued in their favor.

The council also discussed in its first reading the draft regulation for the use of bicycles and electric scooters, and the importance of legally organizing this sector in light of its growing presence, ensuring eligibility for use, and preparing suitable places for parking and movement in coordination with local authorities and various partner entities, while addressing the rising risks due to misuse or other safety hazards.

Additionally, the council adopted the recommendations of the national team to follow up on the file of missing and disappeared persons, defining the team's jurisdiction and scope of work due to the importance of this file and its impact on the lives of thousands of families.
