The Manchester United captain criticizes the spread of "lies" about his relationship with the coach

Portuguese player Bruno Fernandes attacked the "lies" that were spread about his relationship with Michael Carrick, the coach of Manchester United, after the team achieved an amazing victory after falling behind in the score against Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday. After United were trailing by two unanswered goals in the first half, Fernandes led the team to come back in the score during the second half. He scored a goal from a penalty kick (after it was returned), then assisted the equalizing goal scored by Matheus Cunha, before the Brazilian player snatched the fatal winning goal in the last moments.

Speaking to the Amazon Prime platform following the 3-2 win, the United captain was keen to clarify the facts, following speculation that he was excluded from the match against Bournemouth late last month. Because of his criticism of Carrick's tactical plans following the 4-1 defeat to Como's team. Fernandes was initially asked if the win had saved Carrick's job, and the Portuguese player replied: "We don't need to save anyone's job."

It was then asked that Carrick needed this win, and Fernandes replied: “The club needed this win, and the players needed this win.” He said: "It was difficult. There was a lot of speculation in the media, and a lot of lies were spread about many things that happened in this club between me and the technical director."

An emotional Fernandes touched on the issue of his exclusion from the squad in the match that United played in the English Premier League against Bournemouth, which ended with United losing 3-0. Bruno said: “The manager made the decision to put me on the bench because I was not performing as required, and this is fair.”

He continued: "Everyone felt that this was punishment for the words I said, and if so, it was right." He added: “The technical director is the one who makes the decisions.

“I have to accept it, and I have to move forward based on that.” The Manchester United captain continued: “This does not change my faith in the manager and the staff, and it does not change my goal of winning every damn match that awaits me.”

This victory ended a series of nine matches in which the club had not achieved any victory in various competitions, while United currently occupies seventeenth place in the English Premier League standings. Speaking to TNT Sports, Bruno said: “We are very happy, of course.

"It was a match full of emotions, and we are happy with the result. We have long waited for the win - for us, for our fans, and for our club - but we are very happy with the way the match ended."

He added: "We realize that there are things that we must review to try to improve performance, but the most important thing - of course - is to achieve results, which is what we succeeded in doing today." He added: “There is always a feeling of faith at Old Trafford.”

With our fans on our side, it becomes very difficult for the opponents to play here. If we are fully focused and ready, playing a match in this stadium represents a very difficult challenge for any team that visits us.”

He continued: "It is clear that we realize that the previous results were not very much in our favor, but we knew that the fans would support us, and therefore we had to achieve a positive result for their sake." He added: “I don’t think the stadium was lacking anything. The fans were present with us in the last few matches.

Things were not going our way, but today was a good day for us. We were able to turn things around, and we are very happy about that.”
