Trump hints at possible pardons for members of his administration before the end of his term

- U.S. President Donald Trump said he may consider issuing pardons for members of his administration before leaving office. Trump said in an interview with "Time" magazine conducted on Monday and published on Thursday: "Yes, I will definitely do that," adding that former President Joe Biden "pardoned everyone."

Before leaving office, Biden issued several preemptive pardons, including pardons for General Mark Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and members of Congress who were part of the committee that investigated the events of January 6, as well as family members, believing that the Trump administration would target them for prosecution. Biden said at the time: "Even when individuals do not commit any wrongdoing and are ultimately exonerated, merely undergoing an investigation or prosecution can cause irreparable harm to their reputations and financial situations."

The pace of seeking pardons significantly increased under the Trump administration; the president himself played an increasingly active role in the pardon process, using his pardon powers at an unprecedented historical rate to assist his allies and advance his agenda related to his personal political grievances. In the "Time" interview, Trump said that if Republicans lose control of the House of Representatives in November, Democrats "will likely seek to prosecute me, and I will also pursue them."
