After the dispute returned to the forefront.. What did Ronaldo provide under the leadership of Ten Hag?

- The dispute between Erik Ten Hag and his former player Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to the forefront, after the Dutch coach recently made statements against the Portuguese star. Ten Hag said on Tuesday that Ronaldo had “let him down and let the team down” during their time together at Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag added: “He is obviously one of the best players in the history of football. I had a lot of respect for him, but at that time, as a coach, I had to make a rational decision and keep the players I admired,” according to the TNT SPORTS network. He continued: “Every big team must embrace the best player, but the best player must work for the team.”

What did Cristiano provide under the leadership of the Dutch coach? The 41-year-old Portuguese star returned to the Red Devils in August 2021.

Under the supervision of Ten Hag, Ronaldo played 16 matches in various competitions in the 2022/23 season, during which he scored 3 goals and provided one assist. Cristiano was excluded from some Manchester United matches by decision of Erik Ten Hag following a dispute between them, before the Portuguese star terminated his contract with the team by mutual consent in November 2022.

The player left England and joined the Saudi Al-Nasr Club, while the Dutch coach continued in his position until October 2024, achieving only two titles, the FA Cup and the English Football League Cup.
